DAY 19 TRANSATLANTIC CANARIES TO CARIBBEAN
22 December 2009 | 900 nm to Barbados
ok wind today
Barbados is looking really good now since we had news from some of the boats who have arrived and checked out the animal situation. Apparently animals can go in as long as they quarantined aboard the boat. Poor Milo...27 days at sea and he still won't be able to set foot on land...not sure we can do that to him. We'll make that decision when we're about 300 miles off shore. We've done 91 nautical miles since yesterday but winds and speed have picked up this afternoon so maybe we'll have some better news tomorrow night. We ditched the muesli wrapper lure and reverted to our flouro green squid lure and picked up a Mahi Mahi (about 50 cms long) that will be lovely for dinner tonight tossed in flour, cooked in butter and doused in lemon and salt....mmmmm. Saw and spoke to a boat load of French guys who are delivering a boat to the Caribbean for a Canadian owner. It was great to have a chat and we came quite close to each other and waved but because of the configuration of both boats sails we couldn't get close enough to chat in person...oh well...we'll talk to them again on the VHF.
