DAY 24 TRANSATLANTIC CANARIES TO CARIBBEAN
27 December 2009 | 406 nautical miles from Martinique
trade winds are light but building...yahoo
Missed the blog posting yesterday so this will cover both days. We're travelling well and winds have been steady over the past few days thankfully so it looks like we'll make it to Martinique for New Year's Eve. It's such a pity we can't go into Barbados with the rest of the flottila but Milo would be confined to the boat and would go absolutely crazy yelping and squealing if we left him aboard to go ashore and party. We'll be in good company with Tosca and an Aussie boat, Chappie and apparently 200 other yachts in the harbour there. Hope we can find a place to anchor. My latest drama is that I've cut and bleached my hair...what a disaster. It looks shocking and I missed a big patch on my crown so I'm going to have to go back and try and fix it....very depressing. I'll be wearing a lot of scarves and hats for a while til I can sort it out. Other than that we are less worried about our power issues and fuel now that we are so close to our mark so we've been watching a few movies, playing Animalopoly and doing basic daily chores. Just got a fish on the line and lost it, lure and all...it was my last big hook and maybe my last sinker. I think I need a metal trace...
