Ray looking for crew
05 February 2010 | Simpson Bay, St Maarten
Fine and sunny
Well, it's official. Ray is looking for a couple of people to help him bring the boat back to Australia. He's going to be leaving the Caribbean in mid-March and jumping to Columbia or directly to Panama depending on weather. Then through the Panama Canal (along with other boats we know) and then via Galapagos to French Polynesia and then on to Fiji, Vanuatu and on to Australia. We've joined a website called 'crewseekers' and put our story up there and we've already had some responses. Some can only travel part of the way though. We're hoping to get crew on a cost-share basis ...that's all costs apart from boat insurance and maintenance...so food, fuel, communications (internet/satphone costs), Panama canal costs, harbour fees etc etc. Sometimes people are looking to build their sea miles for a skippers qual while others are just looking for the adventure through the Pacific so fingers crossed that we can land some like-minded people. Of course they have to like dogs because Milo will step up to the rank of first mate once Sam and I go (tsk tsk). Sam and I plan to fly out when Ray's settled with some crew...hopefully mid March and home for Sam's birthday...but then you know our plans....extremely flexible.
