Thanksgiving in La Paz

25 November 2007 | La Paz, Mexico
Nancy
We had a pretty good Thanksgiving in La Paz. Marina Palmira hosted a Thanksgiving feast for about 250 people. They provided turkey and cranberry sauce and almost everybody brought a potluck side dish to share. It wasn't really my idea of the perfect Thanksgiving (250 of my "closest" friends!) I would have preferred a nice quiet meal with family and a couple of friends, but our friends from Duetto and Tin Soldier were there so we had a good time.

After the big meal we weren't quite ready for the evening to end so we headed over to Duetto for an after dinner drink and visit. Now just about a day or two previous to this, Stuart on Duetto had taken a "Wahl" shaver to his head and gave himself (with Jean's help of course) a very sporty, close-cropped "do". He kept saying how much better it felt and easier it was... and suggesting strongly that John should do the same. And now we just happened to be on Duetto- home to the aforementioned shaver. With just a bit of urging on Stuart's part and mine we had John in the cockpit chair with a towel about his shoulders and Stuart was cutting his hair OFF! John was a bit nervous about it- I was a bit jealous about it. I mean, how great would it be to use less than a drop of shampoo and not have to comb your hair (ever!) or have it blow in your face when you're trying to steer the boat or wrap a line on a winch?! In fact, I had a brief moment where I seriously considered it. But the thought of being the "cueball couple" quickly convinced me otherwise. Anyway, John looks great with his new "do".
