We're off to a wonderful new year...
My sister came to Puerto Vallarta 2 days after Christmas and stayed nearly a week. Besides her lovely presence she brought coffee, dinghy wheels, and TONS of DVD's. (Yea!)
While she was here, we got in a little bit of pool time, a little bit of sightseeing, and we took the "Los Veranos Canopy Tour". For the tour you ride a series of zip lines from treetop to treetop through the jungle and over (quite high over!) a beautiful river gorge. The zip lines rides were exhilarating and the views were spectacular.
Initially I wasn't sure Maddie and Sophie would be up for it. I mean, it wasn't that long ago that Sophie was too frightened to go on "Pirates of the Cariribean" in Disneyland. But they both stood calmly as they were fitted into harnesses, sat calmly as they listened to the instructions and safety briefing, and blithely let the guides send them hurtling across the wide chasm. And they LOVED it: "Can we do it again tomorrow?"
After the zip lines we hung out for a bit having a snack at the riverside restaurant, and then a swim in the river: "a geological wonder of enormous granite boulders, freshwater pools and sandy beaches". We also checked out their little menagerie of "exotic" animals. Sophie fed a tiny monkey- and now proclaims she wants one as a pet. Pat and I wore a boa constrictor as a hat. No one was interested in handling the tarantulas, though.
You can see pictures of our Canopy Tour by clicking on the "Our Pictures" link to the right under the "Favorites" heading. That will lead you to our Picasa sight and the Canopy pictures are in the December folder.
