Halifax
05 October 2017
Hola,
After the British Navy got over losing Louisbourg due to diplomatic concessions, they decide to take their toys and go to Halifax. It truly is a great harbor. The British needed one after losing the colonies.
They built a really nice citadel there that they
did not need. Their spin was that it was such a great fort that it was never attacked.
Halifax has a very long Maritime history and most of it is sad. We visited the Halifax Maritime Museum and it could be called the Halifax Maritime Disaster Museum. Multiple ship wreaks occurred over the years. The most famous ship wreak of all time happened a fair piece from their coast. It was the Titanic. They were the closest port.
They had a munitions ship explode at dock during WWI that was the largest explosion until A Bomb testing. 2000 citizens died. They were also the staging point for WW II convoys going to England so lost many ships to U Boats
Careful trails to you as we catch-up.
