Kennebunkport to Portsmouth NH

We left this morning at 7:30 and almost immediately began sailing. We had a steady NW wind moved along at 5-6 kts right away. We had a short day planned today but began. To reconsider our itinerary because we were moving so swiftly. Jonathan used to live in Newburyport MA so we thought it might be nice to go an extra 20 miles today and have a shorter day tomorrow when the winds are forecast to be less favorable Unfortunately, after doing some research and making some calls we found no marina that would take transients and that had some room for us for tonight in Newburyport. We decided to stick with plan A and head to Portsmouth. Meanwhile the stuff NW breeze began to die and then to slowly shift to the South and even SW. We slowed considerably and eventually need to motor sail but we got into Portsmouth around 2:00 pm. We then went for a long bike ride into Portsmouth. What a cute little town! We enjoyed the ride very much and stopped for a quick drink along the river before heading back to the marina. Once there we went for a swim, showered and had a glass of wine on the boat before heading out to Massimo’s Italian restaurant. Great dinner! I had crab stuffed ravioli that was delicious. Jonathan had the halibut and enjoyed that as well. We didn’t get back to the boat till about 10 pm. We had to stow the bikes and clean up the boat but now we are ready to crash. Great day all around but tomorrow we have much further to go and less favorable winds in the forecast.
