Gloucester to Boston

We got up at 6:00 so we could exit the Annisquam River at 7:00 which was slack tide. Lots of fishing boats in the marina had already left the marina starting at 3 am (and I heard each of them!). There was very little wind initially but by 8 am we were sailing into a southwest wind. We had a mere 30 miles to cover so we didn’t mind having to tack. The winds were predicted to pick up and shift to the SE and that is exactly what happened. By noon we were on a reach into Boston Harbor with plenty of wind and a favorable current as we hit 7.3 kts with Jonathan at the helm. A great way to finish this leg of our journey. By 2 pm we were docked at Boston Boatyard Marina and ready to get out our bikes for a nice ride around the city. Brice arrived right on schedule at 4 pm and, after fighting rush hour traffic, he joined for margaritas at Legal Seafood. Around 6 pm we were also joined by Katherine Lauer after she finished work at Moderna for the day. We had wine, cheese crackers on board Merry Mac before the four of us went to Isabella’s for a nice Italian dinner. It was a’late’ night for all of us but we had lights out by 10:30. Tomorrow Jonathan leaves us an Bruce and continue on to Provincetown.
