Cape Cod Canal to Pocasset

We arrived right on schedule at the entrance to the canal at 1:30 as the current shifted to the west. We had to fuel the jib to slow our speed in the last 45 minutes so we wouldn’t have to kill time waiting to enter but the wind was dying anyhow so it didn’t really matter. Once in the canal our speed gradually increased as we rode the favorable current. At one point Bruce clocked us at 8.6 kts! On the other side we stayed on the motor as we were almost directly into the wind which had shifted during the canal trip. We arrive at Kingman Yacht at about 4 pm and took the opportunity to pump out and top off our fuel. We got settled into our slip and tidied up the boat before showering and enjoying cocktail hour on Merry Mac. Still no sign of rain although Irene said they had a downpour in Bronxville. Our good weather luck continues. We dined on the premises at the always popular Chart Room (unfortunately not a large selection for vegetarians) before crashing at about 10 pm. Just as we turned the lights out a brief shower passed through but it just made falling asleep more pleasant. On to Newport tomorrow.
