A Stones throw away

Last Thursday as we were about to depart Oak Harbor for the 15 mile crossing of Lake Pantchartrain the fog again rolled in. As we learn about sailing plans,, always have a backup. My Song is still at Oak Harbor and today I became a resident.

FOG

Sailing plans are made to change every few minutes. Woke at daylight with plans to spend New years Eve in Gulfport, MS only to find the boat engulfed in pea soup fog. Sailed all day

Today was one of those sails you remember for a lifetime. Full sail, steady southwest winds, 30 miles across Mobile bay, good company with Andrea and Noel.

Merry Christmas

morning reflections
In two days I fly back to My Song to resume my little adventure.
Now I want to thank everyone who has supported and followed "the trip" here on sailblogs. Especially those who actually sailed with me; Earl & Diane who made the Great Lakes leg fun. My sons Trevor, Craig and Noel who were invaluable installing the engine in Muskegon. Captain Ron for sailing on the meanest of rivers in terrible weather. Keith & Heather who shadowed me in their trimanan Star Hunter for the lower 600 miles or so to Mobile, Al. Also the many new friends I have met along the way. Which has been the greatest benefit of the adventure , all the kind and helpfull souls at every turn of the river, be they other boaters doing a similar trip to marina operators to towboat captains asisting My Song in passing on the rivers.
Merry Christmas
