Well, only 5 more days and Midnight Breeze will be splashed. Am I excited? Well, YES! I hope to get to the launching and take some pictures, but working night shift makes it hard.
We have a delivery captain that will deliver Midnight Breeze to our marina on Friday. We also hired the same captain for a full day of sailing lessons on Sunday from 0800-1600. Mary and I stopped by last week to load some of our belongings and to check up on some minor maintenance work that needed to be done. The dinghy davit cross bar has been installed along with the 4:1 lift system. Looks good! We had some visitors with us. Some of you will recognize my mom and with her is her new boyfriend, Eddie. They drove up from Texas to spend a few days with us. Eighty and still going strong, GO MOM!
I finally have a contract on the house and closing is scheduled for May 18th. So things are finally coming together as planned. I will be able to concentrate on getting Midnight Breeze where she will need to be by 2014 for our trip to the Caribbean. The tuff part will be what to install first. I think that I will wait until latter to install the electronics especially since they change every 6 months or so. The same goes for the water maker. That leaves the wind generator, solar cells, and windless at the top of the list with many minor upgrades. Still have not purchased a motor for the dinghy. However, we have decided on a Yamaha 6-8 HP four stroke once we get settled in.
Our wedding date is fast approaching also. Mary and I first started out getting married in the islands with no invites, then decided to instead get married on the boat, still no invites. We finally decided to get married at our marina using their pavilion, and ended up with 13+ quests. Guess that's not too bad. Mary and I are taking off a couple of days before the wedding in Midnight Breeze as a honeymoon. We'll find a nice secluded anchorage somewhere and disappear off the chart until our wedding day.
We also have to make a trip to West Palm Beach in the latter part of May since some of our furniture from my house will be shipped there to Mary's condo. The rest will go to her house in Baltimore.
The next time you hear from us we should have a few good stories to tell from our first sailing lesson. Can't wait!
