It's a beautiful Day in the Neighborhood!

Irene: a named derived from the Greek word eirene meaning "PEACE"

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood! I've got my nice wool sweater on and am snuggled next to my beautiful wife, watching of all channels, The Weather Channel. You know I just can't get enough of that channel for some reason. AS we speak Irene is making landfall somewhere in North Carolina and has been downgraded to a CAT 1 hurricane. I knew I would like this show! Throughout this whole affair with Irene, I know that doesn't sound right, you have heard the reporters beg people to stay away from the shore line for you own protection. Yet here I'm sitting watching all the reports come in from on site reporters and where are these reports reporting from? They are either standing in or around the serf, out on a pier getting pummeled by the waves from Irene, or anchored to beach somewhere. Really makes sense does it not? They tell you one thing and they go do another all in the name of bring you the story. And then you wonder why people don't hear their call for safety. Hell they don't even listen to what they preach. The good part of this movie, if there is one, is that predictions now have Irene moving off to the east picking up speed as it goes. That translates to tropical storm winds where Midnight Breeze is docked. There may be a happy ending to this story after all! However, that's yet to be determined. I'll know tomorrow evening or early Monday morning when I see for myself. At this time I have been called into work a little early so I and the person I am replacing don't run into the brunt force of Irene, which is now happening as I write this blog from work. The wind has picked up to 30-40 mile an hour with gusts up to 50. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best.
