MIDORI and LIVING WELL were hauled out on March 25th .
We had arrived at the Charlotte Harbor Boat Storage yard the day before and were greeted at the dock by James and Ellen who were back from California and working on getting SOLUTION ready to launch. They hope to travel across Lake Okeechobee to the east coast of Florida and then make their way up to New Brunswick, Canada this summer!
One of the first tasks we were able to do at the dock was wash the salt off of the decks. Once on the hard, the work to put MIDORI away continued for two weeks, plus two days. We were very grateful that Steve and Mary Ann had their vehicle there to help us get several things done, before they left for Indiana. We were okay for a few days, but had to rent a car to start putting things away in storage and again to drive to Dunedin and get our car from the care of Brian’s parents.
Needless to say, it has been hot and humid, (most recently temperatures were up to 90 degrees F) making things very hot when working on the boat both inside and outside. The only place that was relatively comfortable was underneath!
We finally escaped the boat yard on Sunday April 10th. On Monday we traveled to Merritt Island and had a visit with friends Jack and Diane who have A STRING OF PEARLS for sale and are getting ready to move their beautiful new-to-them trawler MOONGLOW up to Virginia for the summer.
On Tuesday we traveled a short distance to Daytona Beach and had a great visit with our friend Mike on his sailboat JULIANA.
Yesterday we made it to Atlanta, Georgia and will start making our way up to Kitchener and Sudbury, Ontario to visit family. We plan to do a couple of touristy things along the way.
I will work on the photo album next.
Stay tuned,
First Mate Lynn and
Captain Brian
