WARDERICK WELLS

Tues, March 12 - Sat, March 16
There were more uncomfortable swells last night in the Hawksbill Cay mooring field. We got very little sleep. Brian actually went out (in the dark, with the swells) and put extra lines on the mooring ball. I wasn't much help, as I needed to rest my churning stomach.
It is Tuesday, and we woke up to a sunny and warm morning with winds out of the ESE at 15 knots. At 9:00 a.m. we all listened to VHF channel 9 and got mooring ball assignments. We departed at 9:40 and motored the 14.6 nautical miles to mooring ball #22 in the Emerald Rock mooring field of Warderick Wells Cay. We all dinghied into the Park HQ office to get WiFi cards and ice, but oh darn, darn, the ice machine was out of order! Not having slept well the night before, we headed back to MIDORI to rest, have supper and an early night.
On Wednesday, we finally had WiFi and were able to catch up on emails, but no Skype and no Facebook due to limited bandwidth. Stu and Heather volunteered to do some handiman work at headquarters, while Pat & Gayle, Paul and Lucie and we went to Butterfly Beach to snorkel. Larry the Lobster is still there, but no lion fish. Later, the predicted storm clouds started to arrive from the north, so we retreated to the safety of our boats for the evening. There was some rain with the wind out of the north, but no contrary swells!
Thursday was spent on the boat as the wind had picked up to about 20 knots, and we ran out of WiFi time. But when the wind calmed down, we all ventured out to Rendezvous Beach for Happy Hour!
On Friday morning we dinghied back to the office to get more WiFi, and walk up to Boo Boo Hill to leave a memento of our visit. Everyone did a beautiful job of carving or painting on a piece of driftwood! We had just returned to MIDORI, when we were thoroughly surprised by Steve and Mary Ann on their dinghy. LIVING WELL was at anchor just outside the mooring field. We knew they were in Sampson Cay, which was our next destination. Since we parted company at Channel Five, they have been to Eleuthera Island, Little San Salvador, Cat Island and made it to the Georgetown Cruiser's Regatta! They are on their way back to the States now. They joined "the crowd" for a walk of Beryl's Trail and The Wall and joined us for Happy Hour and invited us for dinner aboard LIVING WELL where we got caught up on all the news. It was so good to see them!
Tomorrow's destination is Sampson Cay.
Stay Tuned,
