SUMMER BREAK
24 October 2008 | BRUNSWICK, GA
Lynn - It's Raining, It's Pouring!
It was a short summer in Ninette since our return on July 2, 2008.
July was a blur - dealing with mail; income tax; yard work; housework; making and attending various medical appointments with Physicians, Eye Doctors, Dentists.......We also decided to renovate the bathroom.
On the fun side, our 3 year old grandson, Matthew was the first to use our new bathtub when he visited us in mid August with his parents, Chris & Melissa,. It was a very relaxed visit - probably the hottest week of the whole summer, so we used the new playground equipment at the park across the street frequently and enjoyed the air conditioning as we watched the Olympics. We had to warm up the water in Matthew's little pool though - you have no idea how cold the water from a well can be!.
It didn't take long to fall back into the weekend socializing at the Pelican Yacht Club and visiting with old friends. Brian had the opportunity to crew once or twice in the club races (when he wasn't golfing) and I had the opportunity to sit on the Committee Boat. Our 13 year old niece, Annie, and 11 year old nephew, Cameron, took sailing lessons again this summer for a week and participated in the LITTLE BIRD REGATTA in August. Brian and I also raced in the club's Flying Scott. We all had fun!
At the end of August, we were delighted to be visited by our boat buddies, Steve and Mary Ann, from LIVING WELL. (You may recall that after leaving Jack and Diane on A STRING OF PEARLS in Stuart, we carried on with LIVING WELL to Boot Key Harbor last February. They had then sailed up the West coast of Florida to Punta Gorda. )
Their timing was perfect to attend our Club wind-up party on Saturday August 30th.
Although it was difficult to connect with all our friends and family, we were able to celebrate Brian's parents 60th wedding anniversary with a " family dinner" in a private dining room in early September. It was a nice way of getting together without too much "muss or fuss" and we hope we can do this type of thing again in the future.
We hope to be able to connect better next summer as we will be home earlier this coming year (May/09) and staying for six months. We also really look forward to visiting Connor and Colin our grandsons in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
In the meantime, I hope to keep you entertained as we live aboard MIDORI in Brunswick, Georgia and make our way down the Florida coast to Boot Key Harbor after November 1st and then, cross to the Exumas, Bahamas in January, 2009
Stay tuned............
