We have had a wonderful few days at Port Moselle, speaking French (As best we can) it is a very friendly welcoming community. We have met alot of Aussie's on the customs wharf - which is also nice to not have your brain hurt trying to remember the French language for a while.
We have enjoyed the markets - buying fresh fruit, vege, pastries & seafood. We have also met a wonderful helpful business man Herve and his assistant Eva (introduced by a fellow Aussie prior to leaving Oz) they have been very helpful and a pleasure to greet each morning...John often says the wrong French greeting...which is good for a laugh both sides. (Di - the pastries are to die for...you would be in heaven - I will share photo's once have Internet again)
We have finally left "Port Moselle" after 3 nights, we are anchored at Ilot Amedee - beautiful Island boasting the tallest Light House in New Caledonia...we took the dinghy in this afternoon for a sundowner as we walked the beach. Great white sandy crushed coral beach. Amazing clear water. Walked half the island and cut into the Island via shortcut. John strolling along and all but stood on a sea snake slithering through sand back to water-mear danger being a "Tricote Raye" generally not agressive but however, possess one or two fangs which can inject a venom more powerful than a cobra , note to self: "Be more careful".
We had a very light 10-15 Knts SE this afternoon, which has dropped tonight, maybe 5 knts. Enjoyed a local prawn pasta meal "Ala Captain Jack for dinner" best prawns ever...so clean and fresh with some local French wine. I'm in heaven!!! (Note to Rae! Have a bottle of MOE on ice...you would never leave with these prices) Glad to share with you...I am loving this adventure...having some French blood in me... my maiden name being "Beaumont"... I feel very at home. "Au Revoir"
