We left Coho Anchorage about 8:15. We were both very tired. We motored in the fog all day. The sun did not show itself until we dropped anchor. At one point, I tried to give Bob a break so he could rest his eyes. It never fails, something always comes up. As I was on watch, I was watching a big ship. He did not look like he was moving but I could not get past/around him (mind you, we can only go about 4 knots and they can go 30 knots.) I kept changing course to no avail. Then I hear him call on the radio. So, I go and get Bob! He got on the radio and the guy is pulling cable and we need to change course! Needless to say, Bob was not tired anymore and did not want to lay down!
As we were getting closer to Santa Barbara, we noticed oil in the water. The area also has a peculiar smell. There are a lot of boats out sailing. It looks like there maybe a small boat race. There are about 50 boats anchored out in Santa Barbara Bay. We will stay here for a few days before moving on.
