No visit is complete without….

As you might imagine, assuming you were so inclined to imagine such things in the first place, a cemetery in a city the size and age of Guadalajara has some historical significance. So when KT learned that there were actual scheduled tours of a nearby graveyard the excitement level is only slightly overshadowed by the annual two-for-one sale at Big Lots! On our last day in the city, Renee and KT marched a couple of miles over to the noted Belen Cemetery to join the 25 or so other people (I never knew….) waiting to tour the “haunted” grounds. By all reports it was a worthwhile visit with KT and Renee being the only non-Spanish speaking visitors and occasionally singled out for their significant height. Like many things in Mexico there’s controversy associated with this cemetery – while the history books proclaim that former President Benito Juarez rests in Mexico City, the legend is that he’s actually buried in this Guadalajara cemetery. If that’s the case, he is among one of my favorite people – Jose Cuervo!
