Bittersweet comes to mind today as we close in on San Diego to complete our U.S. check-in. Eight months and 5 days ago KT and I left aboard MissTeak for our 3rd extended Mexico sailing adventure in 5 years! This time we traveled close to 4000 miles, met a bunch of new people and got back in touch with old cruising friends. While we visited many of the same places as past trips, we made a point of seeing several new locations and doing different things at the places we'd been before. I know there is a perception that Mexico is a dangerous and third-world like country. To an extent that's true but in our experience that hyperbole is fueled by lazy American media outlets regurgitating negative stories and, in some cases, simply failing to get the facts (yes there was a shooting on the streets of La Paz but it wasn't a Cartel hit rather it was a jealous husband gunning down a cheating wife and lover....). Once again we found Mexico to be an inviting and diverse country and it's people just so dang friendly and helpful! Sure there are some strange processes in Mexico but it really does work! As we drop back into the reality of the Land of Plenty, we will deeply miss the relaxed lifestyle of living aboard MissTeak and, by 100% choice, being without a constant barrage of so-called "news!" We will miss seeing Mexican kids dressed in their school uniforms singing their way to and from school. We will miss sticking our head out the hatch in the morning to see the sun rising over towering mountain and a panga speeding across glass like waters! Indeed there is a lot we will miss about our time roaming about Mexico so we will hold on tightly to our many many fond and everlasting memories! KT and I are so very thankful to of had this "experience" and tip our hat to those who helped make this adventure a big deal in our life! Gracias mi amigos con el gran corazon's! Vemos pronto todos!
