KT jumped aboard an Alaska Airlines flight to LAX on Saturday the 18th bringing an end to her 4th Mexico adventure. The plane which took the Admiral home also brought in Jack and Dan who will, once again, do the bash back to SoCal with me. With Victoria ready to go, we left Puerto Escondido on Sunday for Agua Verde to drop off a few thing to some friends living there. At 0500 on Monday, with no moon and a dark morning, we left for Bahia Los Muertos 130 miles away. When Lobster Jack finally rolled out of bed a few hours later, he promptly started fishing. After trying to convince Junior and I that a marlin had briefly âtaken some lineâ and that another was spotted stalking his lure, he reeled in a fine looking mackerel as the first fish from Victoria! An hour later it was a very small Dorado, 20 minutes after that the fight was on with a 35 lb or so Dorado! The ocean had been very rough until LJ hooked the big one - thankfully the conditions had softened! Going through prime Dorado ground for the remainder of today and most of tomorrow. If the weather forecasts holds, we will stop briefly in Puerto Los Cabos (80 miles) for fuel and continue on to Bahia Santa Maria (another 200 miles) arriving around 1400 on the 22nd. We'll check weather, transfer fuel (carrying an extra 120 gallon for 1120 total), have a nice dinner which the Admiral prepared for us and, if the weather is good for traveling, either head to San Juanico (90 miles) or Isla Cedros (300 miles).
