It was a gorgeous weekend at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival this year... lots of beautiful boats as usual , however the weather was what truly made the weekend...sunny and in the high 70's it could not have been better.
We took care of a few minor things on the interior of the boat, she was a bit dusty but in overall good shape. A new windvane will be installed later this month, as well as the bump kin getting a minor make-over by the Cape George yard. There are new sails a in the making in Seattle and minor rigging details to tend. In the next month Mist will be going to Seattle for the remainder of the winter in preparation for the next BIG ONE....Hawaii to Samoa then down to Tonga and then....
We were fortunate enough to see some old friends while in PT such as Jim and Don of s/v Dreamweaver (Port Angeles) and Todd of Cape George Marine works, Steven Metzimer , the son of our close friends Marlene and Gary of s/v Wandrin Star (Mexico). We spoke with our pal Christian of s/v Irie ( boat is currently in New Zealand) who was in the Seattle area, but we were unable to hook up with him live this trip...next time Christian!!...and to everyone else --a big HELLOâ€"to you 'out there' wherever you may be. If you have a chance to sign our log (www.svmist.com) with any of your updated information it would be lovely to reconnect.
Some sailing pals we HAVE been in touch with more recently : s/v Qayaq in Aipa, Samoa, s/v Nakia in the Marquesas, s/v Wyntersea in Fiji, s/v Irie (boat in New Zealand), s/v Dreamweaver in Port Angeles, s/v Odessa -(Rob and Melissa) in North Carolina, s/v Outrider in Mazatlan (playing in Lake Chapala), s/v Sugata in San Carlos, Mexico, s/v Hawk in the Chesapeake but living/ working in the South of France, Veleda- formerly(Jens and Alice) in Victoria BC. To think we were in the same location at one point in our travels is so unbelievable ... aye, such as the cruising life!
For the next few months when not on the boat, you can find us in the Sierra's skiing this winter. Our planned cruising departure is once again set for early spring 2010.... Happy Travels! S & E
