Slow boat to China ( I mean Hawaii)

1200 miles to Hilo Mist is caught in a momentary 'slow spot' as the High Pressure system passes over us. It is SLOW going at 4.2 knots with maybe 5 knots of wind from behind. You think this would be a quiet and relaxing time, but the blocks are clanging and the sheets are squeaking and the boom is banging all in the anticipation for more wind. Feels like a crazy house down below Chinese water torture (sorry, I am not feeling very PC at the moment).

A BIG ship just triangled around us then hailed us on the radio: "Hey little sailboat, are you alone out here" (I thought - well, yeah do you SEE anyone ELSE out HERE but us??) But I was polite and replied yes, it is just us heading to Hilo from the Seattle area. He said he would make note of our position, asked if we needed anything, we replied "more wind!" and he countered "you are not far from the trades, just a little further". We wished each other well on our journeys At least the big guys are looking out for us little ones! .. Third day of 100% cloud cover. Temperature is remaining warm in the high 60s low 70s. Chores are the still the same, conversations are the same (although I did change my socks!). Off to make some tea and have a nap or two or three
