PORT ANGELES... Is one of the best kept secrets in the Pacific NW....now THIS town is a diamond in the rough and was one of our favorites stops!
Port Angeles Boat Haven the marina is new, reasonably priced and friendly. It is the final 'real' stop before heading out to sea from the Strait (Neah Bay has very little) or coming in from the sea toward th1e San Juans or Seattle. So for Costco runs, marine supplies, a mechanic, engine supplies, restaurants, this is probably your final stop. We met a lot of boats coming and going on long journey's at this harbor.
Anne and Hank at the Waypoint Electronics marine electrical store can get things flown in faster than you could directly at Fisheries....seriously! ( I spent hours in that Fisheries check out line). Anne and Hank also have two cute puppies Maggie and Weezie ( a Boston Terrier and a Pug) that will entertain you while you wait!
Just next door at the marina is a diner style, flash from the past restaurant, called Fishermans's Wharf Café, which is owned by Ron (Chef and who I will call 'the Mayor') and Donna (the real 'Mayor'). While eating freshly caught Halibut, lincod, thick creamy chowders or a fat juicy omelette you will hear stories that alone will keep you coming back. Every character who knows anything about Port Angeles!
We loved this town! Hope to see you when we return for a visit one day.
