We spent three nights at Pearl Bay and enjoyed the company of fellow cruisers and their various stories. It would be fair to say that one of the more interesting crews we have met to date is Blake off Peachy Keen and is two backpackers, Simona from Czechoslovakia and Nicholas from Germany who had jumped on board with Blake at Hervey Bay. They are sailing a 32ft well travelled vessel. Blake, who we have affectionately named Bear Grills is ex navy and I must say has learnt many useful skills including his ability to catch fish and painted crays and then barter with them for other food and beverage supplies he and his crew need. It was amazing seeing him zip about in his dinghy with his catch and we enjoyed talking to the other sailors to see what they traded 😂. Apart from enjoying the antics of Bear and his team we also spent our three days enjoying walks on the beach which also proved entertaining for others when we managed to swamp our dinghy coming into shore with an unsuspecting swell. Whilst we were both drenched we couldn't stop laughing. After three nights we agreed that the winds had hopefully dropped off enough to leave the next day for the Percy Islands and maybe some better nights sleep lay ahead 👍👍
