Saddest Day of my Life – Tribute to my Dad
After returning from the whaling village, we had a few beers with everyone and headed home. I was antsy to check email. For some reason, I HAD to check email – I just knew something was wrong. The email from Mom said: “Call me as soon as you can”. I knew it wasn’t good but I was unprepared for her words that Dad had passed away. My Dad had passed away on Aug 18th & although he wasn’t in great health, he had been doing pretty well. Still, he went peacefully, which is what he wanted. I think another stint in the hospital would have done him in. This was saddest of my life, losing my wonderful Dad, I could hardly believe he was gone. I thought I had more time. I was wrong. I will miss him everyday of my life. After the initial shock, I had to figure out how to get to Bali. Lucky for me, Sam our rally rep had just flown in. I called him & told him what had happened. He said: give me 20 min. & I call you back. Sure enough, 20 min. later he called back & said he could get me in the 7:45 am flight and he’d pick me up at 6:30 am. The rest of the night was a blur as I made reservations from Bali back to Florida. The flight with layovers ended up to be 40 hours! I stayed a little over 3 weeks before returning back to Tom & Mokisha. Even now, tears flow and I feel the pain will never go away but Dad is peaceful and as they said in his service, he dancing in the heavens now. I love you Dad and miss you everyday.
I’ve included a few pictures of him in the picture gallery.
I love you too Mom! The bright side of Dad passing is that my sister & I now have a renewed relationship and are enjoying each other. I have a sister again!
