Mokisha & her crew left California in January 2001. Since that time we've explored Mexico, the entire coast of Central America to Panama, often wandering inland to experience the rich cultures and intriguing ancient ruins left from past civilizations. [...]After enjoying the diverse sights of Panama, we sailed Mokisha to the Galapagos Islands. Our longest sail yet, 10 days! After spending just over thirty days in the Galapagos, we set our sights on Salinas, Ecuador. In 2006 we left Mokisha in Ecuador and backpacked most of South America experiencing sights and people that will stay in our hearts forever. Highlights included Machhu Pichu, Bolivia�s great salt lake and silver mines, the mysterious Easter Island, and a 3,000 mile trip from the mouth of the Amazon River up the river in a cargo boat to Iquitos, Peru. In all, our backpacking adventure lasted eight months trekking thru South America. In 2007, our sailing took us west, first to the Galapagos once again and then twenty-one days across the great Pacific Ocean to French Polynesia. Our first landfall was Nuka Hiva, Marquasas, six months later, with many miles under the keel , we arrived in Riatea, Tahiti. Since then, we have traveled thousand of miles & are currently in the Solomon Islands (2013). We head further west this year to Indonesia and Thailand - follow along our journey thru amazing cultures and fabulous countries of the last real frontier. Tom & Colleen
