Stormy
Day 4 - July 4th 2011
08.00 Walked to store, sun back thank goodness. Crossed lac St. Pierre, dead calm, had the swinging chair out enjoying the ride. Motored and sailed along at a good pace, through the Richelieu Rapids at 12.4 knots and stopped in Portneuf nice and early for a change, very warm and sunny. This is the first harbour with a tide of about 6' had dinner at the marina, watching the freighters go through.
Day 5 - July 5th 2011
07.25 Coffee, Laundry, long walk shower. Set up my office and did a few hours work, went up on deck and could see over the breakwater the tide had come in while I was working.
11.00 left and caught up with Shortwave from Iriquois who had just been swamped by a huge wave, they had all their bedding and mattresses out on deck, poor souls, "been there done that" good job it was hot, they were able to dry everything before arriving in Quebec City.
16.15 arrived at Quebec City, very windy and overcast, through lock into the inner harbour and had trouble docking. Doug, Pinot and I walked around the harbour about an hour and a half, now the sun was out and we got quite hot. Back to boat and then out again to walk around the City for the evening, while eating had a surprise visit from Dan. Back to boat and to watch the fantastic light show that was being projected right behind the us. Beautiful setting with the lights up on the Chateau, really enjoyed the atmosphere, so European. Good night's sleep
Day 6 - July 6th 2011
Quebec City, two nights.
08.00 Dan came to visit in the morning for coffee and popped in the marine shop to buy a new flag he then took Doug and Chris off looking for Milk and Bread, became overcast and rained, I worked most of the morning. We left at 2pm for a walk to The Heights of Abraham, started to rain, the fort was closed. Compensated on the way back with Ice Cream and bought a few umbrellas. We had dinner at the Marina, back to boat to watch a movie and an early night.
