Day 76 – September 14th 2011 – Wrightsville – 34 12 408N:77 47.993W
This morning we have to wait for the bridge to open on the hour, Doug was up and off to the beach to watch the surfers at 06.00 hardly light at that time of day. I got up at 07.00 and we decided that I would go and pick up some groceries while Doug checked our next port on the chartplotter. We caught the 10.00 opening and headed south. Arrived at Wrightsville at 14.30 a nice short day, we motored through the Motts channel to the Banks channel and anchored right behind Wrightsville Bridge. I suppose as we are a month early for cruiser’s heading south we are not seeing many other boats. Only saw one sailboat today going North, there are two anchored but look like they have been here a while and one more came in further down later in the evening. We took dinghy out to the inlet and had a swim, our first on this trip, well I had a quick dip in St. Michaels but this was lovely. Walked along the beach a little and then back to boat to shower and change and then thought we would go ashore to see what else was going on, the beach was gorgeous and still full of people but nothing other than apartments, no boardwalk, shops or restaurants so we got back in the dinghy and motored round to the ICW where all the waterside places were, we stopped off for a cocktail and back to boat for an early night. Yes Ian we are motoring along a bit quick, would like to stop for a couple of day again, we are heading past Osprey to Charleston and then back to Osprey by the end of the month so we should be able to stop a while there.
