DAY 2 – December 7th 2011- South Edisto River – 32 32.742N:080 25.191W
After leaving Charleston we only had a ten minute wait at Wappoo Creek Bridge and then into the Elliot Cut, went from 6.5 knots to 2.1 knots in moments fighting against the tide and current. Out into the Stono River where the wind picked up and as the day went on got windier and the clouds rolled in about 3pm. Doug commented this is like being on the Ottawa River on a windy day, the water was the same colour too. Kept thinking to myself, soon we shall be in blue water. We thought we were going to miss the rain but no, it came and then a storm followed with the wind gusting at 45 knots, we were heading to a Sea food place where they had a few docks but with the wind coming from the South we thought this a bad idea. Heading on we would have taken us into more open water, so we turned back to a part of the South Edisto River we had passed earlier. Anchored and listened to others on the radio having problems with where to anchor, apparently we had missed a small craft warning and were right in the middle of it. This stretch had a lot of trees to block the wind, so glad we had seen it before and decided to come back. I am sitting here writing my blog listening to the wind with the boat rocking and Doug cooking steaks. Very cozy and feel safe but apprehensive not sure I will get much sleep tonight.
