DAY 39 - January 13th 2011 - Nassau Harbour
Cruise ships come in and out of Nassau so quickly, one minute there are none, the next there are three or even five at a time. We are anchored so very close and can watch them coming and going unloading, loading and off again to another port. Apparently there is a cold front coming in. This is why we did not stay in Chubb Cay, so today we go ashore for a walk with Pinot. Then we took her back to Moma and took the dinghy under the two bridges and tied up at a marina so that we could get a few supplies. The idea today is to go down to the tip of the Exumas for a few days. We cannot go too far as I have to leave on the 21st to go back to Ottawa. After unloading the groceries Doug called the Atlantis Marina and asked if we could dock the dinghy and go and check out the Casino and hotel. Yes no problem, so off we go and headed into the marina and past about 12 megayachts, this marina is so protected we could not even see the yachts from the harbour. Amazing place, we toured around and bought two day passes so that we could go in and see the aquarium and pools. I think the main reason Doug wanted to go was to watch the Poker Tournament, After about two hours of walking around the hotel we popped into check out the tournament and took seats right at the main million dollar table, we sat for another hour waiting and watching the players being photographed and set up for the game and then another two hours watching the game. I have to admit, it is like watching paint dry, we were sitting inside this huge convention hall listening to the click, click of chips on the most beautiful of days. Not my idea of having fun but Doug really was enjoying seeing people he had seen on the TV in the past. Not to mention that the TV cameras were there and I am sure that we were in view when they took shots of the audience, maybe one day Doug will be able to see himself on the TV. Back to the dinghy and home to burgers and a movie. Great Day
