Peter Island and Leverick Bay
20 February 2014
DAY 52 - February 17th 2014 - Deadmans Bay - Peter Island
I had been to Deadmans Bay years ago and wanted to visit again, it has a real Caribbean Island beach fringed with palm trees and breaking surf on a white sandy beach. We anchored in as shallow water as we could and knew that this anchorage would be rolling, but not enough to stop us from sleeping. In the morning after a quick tidy through Doug and I took dinghy ashore and surfed in on a big wave and pulled it up the beach about 15feet. A nice long walk through the hotel grounds and over to the marina where we met Donna and Jack who had taken their dinghy round the point to the Marina. Once back on board we decided to head straight to Virgin Gorda as we are expecting big wind for a week and wanted to get settled there.
DAY 53 - February 18th 2014 - Leverick Bay - Vigin Gorda
Arrived after a few hours of pounding into the waves, all electrical instruments are now charged fully, water is nice and hot for showers. That is the only good thing about these trips that require motoring all the way, other than that I find them putting me into a sleepy daze and just want to nap while poor Doug has his eagle eye on the water and horizon. We anchored close to where we were before and settled in for the night.
DAY 54 - February 19th 2014 - Leverick Bay
I knew that Wendy from Nepean Sailing Club was here somewhere in the islands so was happy to see her post on Facebook that she was here at Leverick Bay, hopped ashore and met her at Pussers, such fun to meet friends so far away from home. She was traveling with others from the club so we all met on their boat for a chat and some painkillers. A fun evening, we did not get to see the Pirate show but there always is tomorrow.
DAY 55 - February 20th 2014 - Leverick Bay
Another work morning for me, Wendy and company came by and said their farewells and left us with food which meant no cooking tonight hooray. Eventually we went ashore to meet Donna and Jack and get some internet time which was slow and I did not bother but enjoyed being on the beach chatting. We stayed until Michael Bean started his Pirate Show, lots of fun, then we hosted supper with the chili that was given us.
