Beautiful Day

November 10, 2020 Tuesday

We road our bikes south and ended up at a beach side restaurant that had seating on a pier out over the beach where we sat on stools and had lunch. It was a warm sunny day and the surf continued to be rough. We stayed long after we had eaten our lunch and enjoyed the view of the beach and surf as the large waves rolled in. It was a perfect vantage point to watch the surfers and kids digging in the sand and playing in the waves. There were several empty tables so we didn’t feel rushed to move on but eventually we did and we headed back north.

When we arrived back at the harbor Sharon took a phone call while I went to the grocery store and pharmacy. I had a short list of things to get but I still had to solicit help from three different people in the store to find what was on my list. The first person was a woman with her son and I asked where toothpicks would be, she said that was like finding a needle in a hay stack. Fortunately, the butcher at the meat counter had an app on his phone and soon looked it up and told me where to look. Next was a jar of cherries. The women at customer service when asked said what size? I said really you keep them in different places based on size? She walked me down and across to aisle one and there were cherries.

After the grocery store scavenger hunt was the pharmacy for silicon nose pads for my glasses and the seafood market for some Mahi-Mahi for dinner on the grill. When we were back on board a local man paddled by on a kayak and stopped to talk for a while with us and then a dinghy from the sailboat Kismet came by to join us and ask about the ICW as this was his first trip. It was nice to have a casual conversation (each of us on/in our own boat) as we get in so few with the pandemic going on.
