shelter in the Strait
30 January 2011 | Kent Island group

Deal Island and Erith Island in the Kent group were all we could have hoped for. Absolutely beautiful. Quite windswept but plenty of wildlife (Pacific Gulls and Albatross, Cape Barren Geese, Short tailed Shearwaters and Black-faced wallabies). The light house is no longer used but the buildings are restored and volunteer caretakers look after the grounds, museum and visitors. I had a swim (very revitalizing) and Frances and I had a barbeque at the jetty bbq with all our friends (none), but had a great time anyway.
