North of Desolation Sound is an archipelago called "The Broughtons" - less visited in summer than Desolation but still gets it's fair share of visitors. We were lucky enough to see our first black bear of the season foraging amongst the rocks. This is just after we had returned from a scamper through the forest nearby looking for the remains of an indian village. We came across signs of an animal but didn't think it was a bear, surely not - WRONG !!!
