Isla de Jeronimo
11 November 2016 | Isla de Jeronimo, Baja California, Mexico
Over the next week we visited some of the dry and desolate islands of this coast. Dry is an understatement, who knows the last time it rained. Vegetation is sparse and limited to cacti and very few other hardy plants. We were surprised however by the number of tracks in the sand at San Quintin that showed that Coyotes, hares and other smaller mammals call this desolate place home. The number of seals and sea birds that abound reflect the quantity of life in the surrounding seas.
The island has a resident elephant seal population - this female gave a whole new meaning to the term 'looking over one's shoulder'.
