At something over 250,000 people La Paz is a little bigger than a village. Plenty of 30 metre plus gringo gin palaces here too, but nothing like the madness of Cabo thankfully. We said our goodbyes to Derek and Cathy who were winging their way back to the snow and ice of a Canadian Christmas. Todd flew in from Sydney just in time to join Frances in a Margarita for lunch.
Just outside the harbour at La Paz lies a feeding ground for Whale Sharks. Quite a tourist attraction but we were able to take Monkey Fist out to dive with them ourselves. We were surprized at how many there were - most were feeding, often stationary, almost vertical in the water whilst others were moving between feeding areas and more difficult to keep up with. The one in this video was around 8 metres long and was swimming faster than I could but we did swim around others that weren't moving.
After spending over 20 years in the NT Paul and Frances returned to the sea in 2008. Their first trip was into the Pacific via West Papua and over the top of PNG and then back to Australia where they sold their old traditional boat "Sea Spray" and bought "Monkey Fist"
