Our magnificent sky

09 May 2017 | The Marquesas Islands, French Polynesia
I'm only going to post a couple of photographs of our voyage as the movie is coming out !!! I will do so as soon as possible but the internet in French Polynesia is extremely slow so it may be a couple of weeks.

You become very in tune with your environment, especially when on a passage. It is very important that you continually keep an eye on the sky (i.e. "keeping a weather eye") as the changes in the weather can occur swiftly and it is definitely undesirable to be caught unawares so to speak. The most likely item damaged is sails, and they are expensive and can often require professional attention to repair. It doesn't pay to become complacent, we have learned from experience. Anyway.... one of the upside of always being outside is being able to see how often the sky is beautiful. Having a view horizon to horizon gives a sailor a big world in which to live (even though in reality the horizon is generally around 3 miles (6 kms) away. The colours, the pastels, the hues are simply stunning in their subtlety.
