LAND HO ???
31 October 2015 | LAS PALMAS, GRAND CANARY ISLAND
ROB

It was a dark and stormy night.......Not really, but is is a windy, chilly, rainy and foggy day as we made landfall at Las Palmas in the Canaries. There really is land behind Jens. This was not what we were hoping for at our only port of call during our passage. We have had the opportunity to make some additional repairs to the main furler and take a shopping excursion to the super mercado which presented us with some unique linguistic challenges - how to you say anchovies en espanol? However, the worst may be yet to come, as our groceries still haven't been delivered 4 hours later. We were lucky to get the last slip at the marina. Ken, the nomad of the Med, "just happened" to know the crew on the boat next to us. Moonbeam was moored next to "Lilith" in Mallorca, and Lil and Ken became friends with the owner Thomas. We have been invited over for wine later this evening. Man, this cruising life is tough! By the by, we have now dragged two fishing lines for almost 1000nm and still haven't caught a thing.
