Emily was invited to join Matt, Paul an her cousin, 11yr old Hayden, to go to a indoor climbing wall so I took Ben out for the day on the historic Puffing Billy steam train. The line and train were built over 100 years ago to service the Dandenong Ranges and runs quite steeply in places amongst beautiful tree ferns and gum trees. In places the views back across Melbourne and Port Philip Bay are magnificent.
In 1953 following non-viability of the service and then a landslide closing the line, the Puffing Billy Preservation Society took over the running of the service. The society is staffed by volunteers and is now a very successful tourist attraction.
Emily spent 7hrs at the climbing wall - she came home exhausted but had had a great day.
