Hanging Around in Solomons

Donna
We managed to leave Cadle Creek this morning by 9:30am. There wasn’t any wind but we would not have known if there was since our wind instrument no longer works. Just another casualty of pulling the mast. We aren’t sure what is wrong with it but Bill will figure it out in the next few days. We just hope it doesn’t mean we have to buy something to fix it. We spent the day motoring south on the Chesapeake Bay to Solomons, MD. That is the place to stop when you leave the Annapolis area heading south. It’s about a seven to eight hour trip, plenty for your first day. We thought some cruising friends of ours might be anchored here too, in Mill Creek, so we went in search of them. Unfortunately we missed them by a day or so. No problem, we had plenty of work to do. The picture above is of Bill hanging in front of the mizzen mast reinstalling our SSB antenna this afternoon. It needed to be taken down to remove the mast. I think we’ll be digging out of this one for a while. I realize most of the pictures I’ve posted in the past few days are of Bill in some uncomfortable position, mostly up in the air. Such are the joys of boat ownership….
We’ve decided to stay here until Tuesday when the predicted tropical storm passes through. We will probably move to a more protected anchorage but it will give us time to get the boat in better shape, not to mention the opportunity to spend most of Sunday watching football. We even have leftover pizza we’ve saved for the occasion.
