Great Scan Results!!

Nothing ever really works like you planned. For months now the plan was: Bill’s PET scan was scheduled for June 8th and the results would be ready just in time to take them to the oncologist at John’s Hopkins on Wednesday. The weekend before, Bill and I had planned to spend separately with our family. Bill was going to spend the weekend at the Manassas Civil War Battlefield with our son Ben. I was going to Atlantic City with my mom and our daughter, Amy. Well last week they called and said they had no technician working on June 8th so we would have to change the scan date. Luckily we were able to make it earlier than first scheduled so we could still have the results before the oncologist appointment, and also not have the results in time to possibly ruin our weekend. Then the oncologist office called and told us they had to change the date too!! Now we have to wait until Friday to see him!
Wait?? Not when you don’t have to. The hospital has this great online medical chart program that lets you know all your test results as soon as the doctor releases them. This morning Bill got the notice that his PET scan results were available. It’s scary to wait, but scarier to look!! Happily all the news was good. There was no evidence of any cancer at all. We were really worried that the cancer in the lungs would come back but nothing was found! Of course we still have to wait until Friday to see what the doctor has to say about this. We don’t know if that means the immuneotherapy worked completely or not. We figure we will have to live from scan to scan for a while.
In the meantime we are working diligently on the boat. Bill spends some time every day varnishing something and we are almost finished stripping off the varnish on the boat in places that can’t easily be revarnished on top of the old. We are also working on other projects, and fixing things that are currently breaking. In the picture above Bill is modeling our new fender board after the old fender board moved around so much that it broke the lifeline! Bill found a picture of this one online and decided it would be a good fit for having the boat on the dock for a while. All the fenders are tied into place with a piece of plastic pipe. Nothing is moving around anymore!
