Cleared US Customs.

Day 125 - Montague Harbour

Traveled down Trincomal Channel by the one-boat-nook along Secretary Islands but it was occupied. Made our way towards Montague and tried out a bay on Parker Island. Decided to move as winds were forecasted to come into the bay in the morning, so moved over to Montague. Busy area with lots of boats - interesting to watch all the activity.

Day 124 - Silva Bay

Crossed the Strait of Georgia with following winds, going with the tide. Passed through Welcome Passage at Thormanby Island and headed to Silva Bay with the plan to go through Gabriola Passage versus Nanamio and Dodd Narrows. Nice change – but crowded with all the mooring buoys with boats on them. [...]

Day 123 - Pender Harbor

Smooth transit going with the wind and tide. Saw more humpback whales in Sutil Channel as we head south.

Day 121 - Rebecca Spit

Still smoky with 1 mile visibility, less ash in the air. As we made our way up Sutil Channel we came across more Humpback whales with a pair passing fairly close along the boat. Settled into the north nook of the spit (171’ of chain) and watched as the area filled up with boats. Tuesday night was [...]

Day 120 - Discovery Passage Marina - Campbell River

Easy transit down Johnstone to Discovery Passage and through Seymour Narrows with 4 knots of current along with smoke and ash in the air and 1 mile visibility. We were able to get a slip at Discovery Passage marina enabling us to get to Crabby Bob’s (and Abby) to pick up four Dungeness crabs and a dozen oysters. While docking – Randy Harley had just pulled in and was walking-by as we were tying up. Had a nice dinner with Randy and Judy and talked a lot about fishing. He cruises at 25 knots on F/V Northstar.

Day 116 - Cullen Harbour

16 August 2018 | Cullen Harbour
Smooth transit with amazing humpback whale watching near Arrow Passage. We saw two whales feeding in the area, with one head down and flopping his tale on the surface at least a dozen consecutive times. Then we come across rocks near Screen Island, off Eden Island, where there was a heard of sea lions barking away.
Anchored in front of Booker Passage with a stern tie to the point. Had a nice view looking into the passage taking in the rapids going into the lagoon. Near HWL slack, we took Moonshot for a tour of the lagoon. Upon our return, we started to get rollers in from Queen Charlotte, so we deployed the rocker stoppers.
Soon we realized we were not tucked back far enough into the cove and were catching the current from the outgoing rapid. When we released the stern tie, we swung further out into the full force of the current. With tender, dinghy and rocker stoppers out, and now full force of the current, we hustled to get everything secured so we could re-position further out into the harbor away from the current. Settled in for a good night’s rest under a waxing moon.
