Six of us set off just just before sunset for the 10 minute dinghy ride around the reef through the passage to the Resort Bay. As we approached, the damage done by the transit of the ex-cyclone was more than evident with large sand bags trying to keep the rest of the beach from washing away from under the building.
As we approached the beach, Steve leapt from the bow of the dinghy so as not to get wet. May have worked if he had not landed face down in the sand with his feet in the water. He jumped with the bow rope in his hand which was very short and may have contributed to his face plant when he literally ran out of rope. I tossed him the anchor and rope which proved to not be attached to the boat, so that did not help much either.
Pity the shot cut off his knees as you cannot see that he is wet.
Because of the fore mentioned erosion, the walk to the resort turned into a forced march through the dune, did I mention the f....ing sand?
We had a good catch up with Gaye and Rod and enjoyed some well cooked BBQ beef ribs, Pork Belly, Cumberland Sausage, Chicken with salad for $30.
Part way through the evening, we were approached as to the owners of the dinghies on the beach, because a small boat had broken loose and was drifting back to Australia on its own. Eventually, Rod and myself hopped back into his dinghy, got wet and headed after the errant boat. We had just caught it and were trying to decide what to do with it when another dinghy emerged from the darkness with a very relived owner.
An uneventful trip back to our bay had us back on board just before 2100. Good time had by all.
Especially Steve when he realized ice creams where available for Dessert, here Audra can clearly be seen letting him know how many he is allowed to have.
Kathy with stunned mullet would be an appropriate title for this shot.
We head into the marina today, 15 days since departing the Gold Coast, so a bit of shopping and washing to do. Steve has his 4th op to hopefully get his leg sorted Monday then we will continue on as soon as practical. I believe it is getting warmer, but it may only be an illusion at this point in time.
