The last few days it has been blowing 20 to 25 knots fairly constantly, has been fine out the front of VMR Airlie Beach. We are anchored with less than half a metre under us at each low tide. This has been causing a problem with the anchor bridle falling off when it is slack on the bottom. Now held in place by a big electrical tie, so far so good. Will need to cut prior to retrieving the anchor.
The sun comes up, the sun goes down and days pass.
Tuesday we went on a road trip with Audra and Stefhen to Mackay.
(Please note that Stef is actually Steve just auto corrected, seems to have got his knickers in a twist over it, get over it princess. Who left whom walking to the bar last night anyway?)
While the girls took the car and did what is their want to do, shop, Steve and myself caught up with Rob on Visiteur an L440 in the marina. He has just added new batteries to his boat also adding Victron inverter etc etc, he has done a great job. Another Lagoon gets the electrical power it deserves.
Yesterday I was pushed by Steve into more preventative maintenance. This time he ordered bearings and seals for my anchor winch. So we spent the morning pulling it apart, cleaning and replacing 2 x seals and bearing. It is in its 5th year of operation, still had good seals, viable grease and bearing was not too bad as well. Now should be good for another few years at least.
Meanwhile, Kathy was busy with 70 name tags for the upcoming Lagoon event.
She was also trying out some cake recipes and decorating (Steve and myself acting as guinea pigs), emphasis on the pigs. Seen here some Lagoon logo icing.
Last night, what started out as dinner for 4 escalated over a 20 minute period into 10 of us from Casablanca, Clear Horizons, Double Diamond, Moor R&R and Seabreeze enjoying a Lamb Shank special $14.90 at Banjoes Bar & Grill. It's not that long a walk from the VMR. How do I know that you may well ask? There were 10 people and one car with 5 seats not counting driver - 4 people at a time can be transported so that left one after the second trip without a ride.
I do not understand how it happened, but the only person to end up walking to the bar was me. I guess they all just realized what an athletic, walking sort of person I am (NOT). I have a good memory and revenge is a dish best served cold.
The lamb shanks where very good and a great time was had by all.
The spare part for the water maker finally arrived.
So, as long as Steve has not arranged any other enforced preventative maintenance jobs for me today, hopefully will get that fixed today.
