Friday Arrived and had Lamb roast aboard Temptress before having a good sleep to recover from the sail down.
Saturday Geoff delivered the van to us and we joined Him and Ellen, Val and Rick for breakfast at Rathmines cafe. We then set off to look at 4 houses that where open for inspection, dropping in on Greg and Sue for a quick drink on our way back to Styles Point.
Sunday had a sleep in that had us eventually headed towards the Catilana Bowling club for a Sunday afternoon session with 14 others. Just after we arrived a storm hit with torrential rain and the wind hit 45 knots according to one couple who had not left the boat for shore befor the storm hit.
The bowling green after the storm looking more like lakes.
Some of the crew who arrived after the storm.
Monday started off well with Mark, Wendy, Suzy and Don joining us on a trip to Toronto. I dropped (remember that word) off at a wheel place to have the wheels and tyres checked due to a vibration the van has developed. Off we go for a walk around town and to a cafe for lunch. 90 minutes later I call to see how the van is getting on "Er sorry sir we have a bit of bad news, the van dropped (thereis that word again) off the hoist and has a bit of body damage, but it is all OK because we have somebody coming to have a look."
Off we walk back to the place to find they have sent the van off somewhere to try to open the damaged door, mean time we can not even get a cab back to the dinghy's as the keys to the locks are in the van.
Read the riot act told them to get van back here now and they will pay for the repair after New Year. Cooks tour of the area in the van on the way back to the boats.
Tuesday up at 0500 and moved the boat onto the jetty at 0530 then proceeded to scrub and clean boat and unload more surplus equipment into the van, with the arrival of another potential buyer arriving from Sydney at 0900. The couple spent the next 4 hours going over every part of the boat and left with documentation to check the boat is what I am telling them with the promise I will here from them in the next 7 days. Boat back on anchor and I collapse, this boat selling can be a bit stressful and poor old Kathy had been cleaning like a Trojan.
Wednesday we left the boat just after 1030 to go empty the van into the storage locker. We where stopped on the road and told it was closed for the next 2 hours for resurfacing. I informed them I had a lunch appointment in Toronto in less than that time and needed to get past. So I walked up to the work area and declared I could get past on the verge at the side of the road. So I informed the traffic control kid that was what I intended to do not just sit and wait for a couple of hours.
Van unloaded we met the Crew at Toronto Thai for a Xmas Lunch.
After Lunch we drove up to Warneres Bay at the top of the lake for some shopping then back to the boat.
Thursday the 7th Day on the Lake and I am warn out already. A day of rest today except Kathy needs me to make some pastry to cook mince pies for Xmas. I hope the next week is a bit quieter but with Xmas in the middle of it I very much doubt it.
Ordered my Xmas present yesterday. There is a Men's group on the lake that gets together once a month when the ladies are at their book club metting. Called "Secret mens wine business" which is very self evident as to what is involved, but they are branching out into RC yacht racing on the off fortnight so hence my new Xmas present that is on its way.
