More Mischief Wherever We Go

Season 5 begins of five months or five years - October 30th, 2015

The journey from Hell across the Mona Passage

29 May 2012
With the promise of 12 to 15 knot winds on the bean we headed out to cross the Mona Passage to Puerto Rico 125 miles away. This turned out to be far from the truth. We hit 20 to 25 knots on the nose and fought to get to the Spanish speaking island of Puerto Rico in roughly 34 hours and in 6 to 10 foot seas. We lost our auto helm and had to hand steer the entire trip.
Out buddy boat Cheetah II lost their auto helm, their anchor got loss in the middle of the night and their furling on their head sale broke. Dick had crawl up to the bow of the boat three times that night.
Needless to say after three squalls and the wind and waves and broken boat parts we were all exhausted when we pulled into Mayaguez

Extra: Year three is about to start. We are heading back to Antigua to launch the boat and plan on cruising back up to St. Marten and then over to the Virgin Islands for the season.
