Oh Glorious Night

Sunday 24th April.
One of the most fantastic nights of my life:
On the night of the 24th we were 240 miles into our sail. As the sun set in the west, behind us, it left an ethereal glow, which in itself was beautiful but then the darkness released its magic, allowing a billion stars to light up the sky, from the Nadir and the Zenith and to the Heavens; quite breath-taking. I thought I would go up to the foredeck, away from the light pollution of the cockpit instruments, in order to get a better view. Once more I was in awe, as Muirgen parted the sea and forced the waves to splash, so each side of the boat was illuminated by phosphorescence. This was one of nature's spectacular light shows. It occurs when tiny creatures are excited by the vigorous movement of the displaced water. It's like flames in the water. Then, just as I thought the scene couldn't get any better, there was another sight to behold; a dolphin dancing back and forth in the bow wave. You could not see the dolphin itself, only the 12 foot fiery flame it left in its wake. I can hardly describe the futuristic scene unfolding before my very eyes. Magical! A fantastic day's sailing, seeing over a dozen turtles and topped of by this show, just how can life be any better.
