moving right along
03 April 2010 | the Pacific Ocean (duh!)
Andrew
Moving right along - finally clawed our way out of the wind hole off the Mexican coast, and have made not too bad progress. Did 148 miles yesterday, which is about as good as one could hope for on a boat our size and laden down with stuff (like provisions). Today not as good, but we should be close to 120 miles, which is an average of 5 knots. We are less than 1,000 miles from our first waypoint! We have been sailing all afternoon with the spinnaker up given the light winds. Boys currently manning the artillery (slingshots with chickpeas) to deter the Boobie birds from roosting in the rigging. It took all morning to clean the guano from our first visitor, so we are not keen top become a regular roost. Why can't they find another boat - ketches have many more roosting spots, and there are several within flying range! More soon, stay tuned!
