Summary, Current still helping. 364 nm to Hawaii
Yesterday made 150 nm. Current helping. At 1900 rpm doing 7 kts with projected arrival at 2a.m. local time Hawaii. Backed off to 1625 rpms doing 6-6.2 kts with arrival mid morning. Wind just picked up and is knocking us back a bit so we are now doing 1700 rpms and maintaining 5.8 kts to arrive as projected.
A persistant Red Footed Boobie hopped aboard for grooming time, perhaps a sign that we should follow suit. Just like "calling the ball" for a jet landing on a carrier, he made at least 12 passes before a successful landing on our anchor pulpit. He began preening but was rousted by waves and spray. He rejected flying fish offerings as he flew past and after multiple other tries requiring timing and avoidance of paravane pole stays, he lit on the forward port rail where he clung to the rail with his red feet and oiled all his feathers, undisturbed by our presence. Using his tail feathers and to a lesser extent his wings, he balanced on the bobbing bow until finished with his duties and flew off. Had he chosen the aft dingy davit, it would have been a much nicer ride. While on the anchor pulpit, he posed like a figurehead, but like the "sorry Charlie" tuna commercials, the boat is named Shearwater, not Boobie. Also have started seeing petrels which are smaller agile seabi rds which are pretty cute.
Crew anxious for grog rations and shore leave. All else good on board.
