Looks Like GO Time!

17 October 2016
Well sports fans, it has come time to think about getting this adventure underway! After watching Hurricane Matthew tear up the East Coast and parts south, we think we have turned the weather corner.

Over the last week we have been watching the tropics and nothing new is brewing. The reports we have recieved from the Bahamas are pretty good, except Freeport, but that is a bit farther North than we are going. In addition, this weekend, Florida is about to see the first real cold front swing through, bringing breezy Northerlies and cooler temps. It has been cooler and less humid since the Matthew, but this weekend will probably show us the real change of seasons.

With the forecast looking promising, my Dad will arrive on Thursday from Ohio to join us for the first leg of the trip. What could be really signifigant, is that we may actually pull away from the dock on my Dad's 70th birthday....talk about a cool present! Look for us to be heading out on Tuesday or Wednesday...October 25th or 26th.

Our first leg is Tampa Bay to Key West, which should take us roughly 36 hours. An overnight sail right out of the gate! From Key West, we will move over to Boot Key Harbor in Marathon Key to await a good weather window to make our way up the Gulf Stream and into Bimini, Bahamas. If the weather is good, we should be in the Bahamas by Nov. 4th ish....

Today we provisioned up with all the long term goods, canned goods, etc. Later this week, beverages and more hard to get food. Over the weekend, we will finish off with topping off fuel, propane and fresh foods for the first run!

Excited, nervous, feeling a bit rushed, brain is running on high speed and feeling that exhilration you get when something big and unique is about to happen.

Mom's are watching, we hope you keep tuned in and follow along....and if you want to join us....let us know!
